You will need money on your trip to Peru, Peru´s currency is the Nuevo Sol and comes in bills of 10, 20, 50 & 100. The coins 10, 20 & 50 centimos, than 1 & 5 sol coins. American Dollars are widely accepted in larger tourist shops and restaurants but not accepted in smaller shops and markets. All of the major cities have banks with ATM´s which you can use, be aware who is around you and be careful they do not see your security number. Credit cards are widely accepted but there will be a minimum fee of 7% per transaction.

You always think about your safety when you travel and traveling in Peru in no exception. Be careful with your belongings and of petty theft. When in crowded areas be aware of your surroundings and use your daypack on your front. Never leave your bag unattended and leave your flashy jewelry at home.
