Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire, has a wide variety of tourist attractions that can be seen and visited while you spend time in this historic city. Cusco Peru Travel has prepared this blog entry to let you know all the attractions that the city has downtown, nearby areas around the city, the countryside, and the whole region. So, whenever you are planning a vacation to Peru this information will be very useful in order to make your choices about the places that you would like to see on such a wonderful trip.
First of all, there is the tourist ticket which is gotten by almost all the tourists that visit Cusco and the reason to buy this ticket is that with it you can visit almost all the must-see places that the Inca capital can offer a visitor. The Boleto Turistico has some variation depending on your trip time and days, and it has also different presentations according to some touristic circuits that Cusco has.
There is the general touristic ticket which is good for 10 days and the price of it is 130 soles, and 70 soles for students (presenting your student ID card), this general touristic ticket includes the 3 circuits that can be done in and around Cusco city. The first circuit, also known as the city tour, includes the archaeological park of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay; these four places can be visited in one afternoon and during the tour it is also included the city Catedral and Qoricancha which tickets have to be bought once you start the tour in the church gate and the Qoricancha temple (Nor, the Cathedral and Qoricacha tickets are included in the touristic ticket).
The second circuit includes the museums of the city such as the Qoricancha Museum, the Historical Regional Museum, the Contemporary Art Museum, and the Pachaqutec Monument; all of them can be visited in one morning and most of the tourist visit them by their own, at their own pace. Besides them, there are also two archaeological places to visit that are Tipon and Piquillacta, these places are part of the south valley tour that is doable in one day.
Last but not least, there is the third circuit that is also called the sacred valley tour. The places that this circuit has are Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Moray, and Chinchero. The tour around the sacred valley and involving these four places that are the most attractive ones in the area is doable in 2 days.
To keep in mind…
For some visitor who have just a few days to visit Cusco we recommend to get the variations of the Touristic ticket depending to their preferences and time. In these cases, each of the circuits offer a ticket which price is 70 soles (each circuit individually and there is not a student discount).
